COME BACK HAUNTED

Written and Directed by Logan Freeman

In early 2023, Logan Freeman, a filmmaker based in the USA, approached us seeking our expertise for his Vampire short film, "Come Back Haunted," which he wrote and directed. Our collaboration encompassed a range of services, primarily around 2D compositing and motion tracking elements. His vision emphasised a subtle integration of visual effects into the film, adhering to the principle of maintaining a minimalist but effective approach.

Our primary task involved applying a cracked texture to specific characters' skin, complemented by a carefully crafted dust effect. To achieve the dusting effect, we utilised footage of flower against a black backdrop, which was then composited in After Effects to match the characters movement.

Additionally, Logan requested the creation of an animalistic-styled eye shine for the young girl in the film, drawing inspiration from the aesthetic of the film 'Blade Runner.' This effect added a mesmerising, ethereal quality to the character, harmonising with the narrative seamlessly.

Another noteworthy challenge lay in the creation of a force field barrier. This effect demanded advanced compositing techniques to convincingly portray its presence within one of the film’s scenes.

Logan’s Thoughts:

Let me tell you, it was the easiest, most rewarding experience I’ve ever had a post-house. Hayden and Alexander took each note to heart, honed my ideas, & suggested aspects that hadn’t even crossed my mind…that ultimately made the film 1000% better. They were collaborative, patient, and most of all - churned out work comparable to multi-million dollar studios. Don't think for a second that's not where they're heading.
